Since the beginning of sports training in late-June, the Norwood Athletic Department has worked with local health departments, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), and the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) to provide the safest environment possible. All of our coaches are required to wear a mask at all times, athletes and coaches are screened for COVID-19 symptoms before ever stepping into the facility, and constant social distancing, sanitizing, and checks are practiced.
Moving into game season, even our spectators at Norwood facilities are required to follow recommendations from the ODH and OHSAA. These include, cash-less ticket sales for all events, temperature checks before entering the facility, socially distancing in the stands by sitting on an ‘X’, and sanitizing stations throughout. By following these guidelines, we are helping to ensure our student-athletes can have a full school year of athletics.
Finally, our student-athletes have come out in greater numbers than last year. We have seen a significant increase in participation in six of our seven sport programs, with some even doubling their numbers in a year. There has been great excitement throughout the athletic program and the school district! Our student-athletes are succeeding on-and-off the playing field early in this fall season and we expect to see the same throughout the school year!
