Performing Arts
Orchestra classes start in sixth grade and continue through high school. Interested students choose between violin, viola, cello or bass. String Orchestra students learn a creative life skill: making music! Our students perform for the community and Norwood's elementary schools as well as state competitions.
Norwood High School is proud to expand the excellent work of our musicians. In high school orchestra, our students continue to grow and musical technique and aptitude. They enjoy working with instrument specific clinicians, attending field trips, performing for the community and even performing on a National level. In the past, Norwood Orchestra has been invited to perform for an international audience in Chicago, Nashville and Disney World.
Our Orchestra teacher is Mrs. Allison Marshall who has been teaching for 18 years. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Miami University, Suzuki Certification from Capital University and her Graduate degree from Xavier University. Along with teaching public school, Mrs. Marshall currently performs in several Symphonies in the area. In 2022, Mrs. Marshall was awarded Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's Teacher of the Year.
In May 2022, Mrs. Marshall was awarded Teacher of the Year for Norwood City Schools. She is dedicated to bringing the joy of music to as many students as possible!
