Superintendent

Welcome to the start of the 2011-12 school year! As with the start of each year, our staff and students are eagerly looking forward to being with colleagues and classmates once again in the classrooms, halls and playgrounds of Norwood City Schools.

I would like to take a moment to reflect on the unprecedented success experienced through the district during the 2010-11 school. Our students worked diligently throughout the year in the classroom and in after school activities such as music, drama, fine arts, athletics and clubs. Our staff members worked with great passion to educate, mentor, and support the more than 2,200 children enrolled in our district. Our parents and community members attended countless activities and provided thousands of volunteer hours to assist both our staff and our students. Their incredible support helped create lasting memories for our children. The community and school district worked closely together to support our children by passing an Emergency Levy, the first levy that has increased the tax rate of our residents in sixteen years. The successful passage of this levy has provided financial stability for the district for several years to come.

Our staff and students continue to earn excellent results in the classroom. The 138 members of the graduating class of 2011 earned over $300,000 in scholarship money. Over 80% of our graduates are enrolled in college, university, certification courses or the Armed Forces. These graduates will continue to represent and carry on the legacy of so many who have gone before them, graduates of the greatest school district in State of Ohio, the NORWOOD CITY SCHOOLS.

The culminating accomplishment earned by our staff and students during the 2010-11 school year is on the Ohio Department of Education School District Report Card. For the first time in the long proud history of the Norwood Schools, the District has earned the distinction of EXCELLENT. This accomplishment has been achieved through a true partnership and team effort by our staff, students, parents and community members !

Thank you to all of our students, staff, parents and community members for making the 2010-11 year a truly EXCELLENT school year. We look forward to another EXCELLENT school year full of new experiences, achievements, learning and friendships for all.
