Sharpsburg Elementary & Primary School's April Rising Staff Star is Ms. Ashley King
It is with great pleasure and pride that the staff of Sharpsburg Primary and Elementary schools wish to recognize Ms. Ashley King as our April Rising Staff Star. Ms. King has been a tremendous addition to the staff at Sharpsburg Elementary. She consistently proves her dedication to the students of Norwood by coming in early, staying late, volunteering for extra-curricular activities and giving up her lunch time to help struggling students. Ms. King genuinely enjoys teaching and has a deeply personal connection to each child in her class. The opportunity to teach an afterschool tutoring group arose and Ms. King immediately volunteered to stay late to provide engaging activities for struggling learners. She has become a coach and an integral part of our Norwood Knights Chess club. Ashley graciously used her free time on the weekend to help coordinate and manage the Chess Club involvement at the Queen City Chess Tournament. Even when things don't go as planned, Ms. King has proven to be a consummate professional and has remained undaunted in the face of adversity. Upon entering her classroom early in the year, she was alerted to the sudden appearance of an escaped two foot long bearded dragon walking around the room.

Sharpsburg Elementary & Primary School's April Volunteer Rising Star is Mrs. Lois Schneider

Sharpsburg Primary and Elementary School would like to recognize Lois Schneider for being a dedicated and hard working volunteer. Mrs. Schneider has been a wonderful helper in our K-2 Art classrooms. She has devoted her Tuesday mornings to helping our students complete art projects and helping Mrs. Burton get art materials prepared, organized and cleaned up for all of our morning art classes. She has made sure that pencils were sharpened before students arrive for class and glue bottles were ready to be used. She is always in the cafeteria waiting for Mrs. Burton and the students with a warm, friendly smile. She has a calming and soothing presence that makes it easy to approach her for help. She shares stories with the kids that are related to our projects. Her patience is amazing! Mrs. Schneider is even thinking about our students in her free time. After noticing we were low on supplies, she took the time to go to paint stores to collect wallpaper books for our crafts. Even after having her knee operated on recently, she was back at school with us after only a few short weeks to recuperate. Mrs. Schneider has been a great help to our students. We are very lucky to have someone like Lois Schneider volunteering at Sharpsburg Primary. Thank you Lois, you are much needed and appreciated. Congratulations Mrs. Schneider !
