NHS Band Director Sharpening his Conducting Skills

On Monday, March 4, Norwood Band Director Patrick Bauer was one of seven guest conductors to attend the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Conducting Workshop at Sycamore High School. It was a great honor to conduct the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Concert Orchestra on Igor Stravinsky's Firebird Suite.

While conducting, World Renown Cincinnati Pops Conductor John Morris Russell gave an open critique of our skills, in front of other Cincinnati area band, choir and orchestra directors. Imagine Joey Votto coming to the batting cages with you and critiquing your hitting technique in front of all your friends, it was a nervous time! JMR gave some outstanding advice and information for me to use with our students here at Norwood. It is not everyday you get to learn from one of the best in the world!
