Veteran Richard T. Mallon Receives Veterans Honorary Diploma for the Class of 1953
Mr. Mallon was born and raised in Norwood and attended each elementary school and then during his junior year left Norwood High School to join the US Navy. His basic training was completed in San Diego, California. His assignment was to an elite Naval Command in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Mallon shared that “This top secret Navy Special Weapons command was responsible for the training and assignments of Officers and enlisted personnel in the care of maintenance of atomic warheads on various naval ships and ground facilities in both the Pacific and Atlantic.” He then spent much of the remaining time aboard the USS Hancock CVA19 and the ground Command SWUPAC on the Naval Air Station in San Diego.
After his discharge his career led him to DE Aircraft Nuclear Propulsion department and then onto Frisch’s Management program and over the next forty plus years he rose through the ranks and retired as a Division Vice President in the Big Boy Division. What a proud career Mr. Mallon has had. Congratulations to Mr. Richard T Mallon, Norwood High School Graduate Class of 1953
