Christian Patterson captured the Ohio Athletic Conference high jump title as the league championship concluded Saturday at Beckett Track and Field Facility.
Wilmington College scored 68 points to finish seventh overall. Mount Union scored 143 to claim its second straight OAC crown.
“I am really pleased with our performance,” Wilmington head coach Ron Combs said. “I thought the team really came to play and did a fantastic job.”
Patterson (Cincinnati/Norwood) entered the meet undefeated and left undefeated. The sophomore cleared an NCAA Div. III season-best 6-11 to claim his first conference crown. The jump also broke Patterson’s Wilmington team record.
“Christian really brought his game today. He has been so consistently good this season, but you are defined by what you do at the big meets. He struggled at last year’s conference meet, but got that monkey off his back today,” Combs said.
