NORWOOD UPSETS #2 McNicholas

A three-run sixth inning helped Norwood to a 6-5 upset victory of second-seeded McNicholas in the second round of the Division II baseball sectional playoffs at McNicholas Thursday.

Norwood, which earned the eighth seed after a 9-12 regular season, jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after senior starting pitcher Alex Johnson smacked his second home run of the season on the fifth pitch of the game. Norwood tacked on run later in the frame to hold a 3-1 lead after the first inning.

McNicholas, which had a bye in the first round, fought back to claim a 4-3 lead after five before Norwood’s game-winning rally.

Norwood's Patterson Wins OAC Championship!!!!!
Norwood High School :: Boys Athletic Bulletin

Christian Patterson captured the Ohio Athletic Conference high jump title as the league championship concluded Saturday at Beckett Track and Field Facility.

Wilmington College scored 68 points to finish seventh overall. Mount Union scored 143 to claim its second straight OAC crown.

“I am really pleased with our performance,” Wilmington head coach Ron Combs said. “I thought the team really came to play and did a fantastic job.”

Patterson (Cincinnati/Norwood) entered the meet undefeated and left undefeated. The sophomore cleared an NCAA Div. III season-best 6-11 to claim his first conference crown. The jump also broke Patterson’s Wilmington team record.

“Christian really brought his game today. He has been so consistently good this season, but you are defined by what you do at the big meets. He struggled at last year’s conference meet, but got that monkey off his back today,” Combs said.

BIG MOVE FOR NORWOOD ATHLETICS!!
Norwood High School :: Boys Athletic Bulletin
Today is a great day in Norwood Athletics. Super Fan Eddie would be giving everyone a thumbs up!!!!

It is with great pleasure to inform everyone that Norwood has been accepted into the Southern Buckeye Conference. The Athletic program will be withdrawing from the FAVC for the 2012-2013 Fall Sports Season, and competing in the SBC. I am very excited about this move for the student-athletes and the Norwood Community. The SBC is a great fit for our academic and athletic programs.
