Some children come to school up to two years behind in early reading and social skills, and that can make it hard to catch up.  Getting kids ready for kindergarten is important and Norwood Ready Kids is here to help!  Norwood Ready Kids has something to offer for everyone.  Below is more information about each program available.  To sign up today contact visit http://www.schoolreadykids.org/sign-up-today/ or contact Deb Robinson at 513-924-2768 or robison.d@norwoodschools.org

Healthy Pregnancy and the Early Years - Pregnancy to Age 3 (Every Child Succeeds)

Home visits from Every Child Succeeds mean moms get extra support for a healthy pregnancy and continues as your child grows and develops.  Any pregnant mom or any family, with a child or children under the age of 12 weeks old living in 45212, is eligible for our program.  As a new parent in our community, ECS is offered to you at no cost and is completely voluntary. The home visitor will share information and fun activities to help your child learn through play, supporting physical, social and emotional development. The ultimate goal is to make sure your baby grows to be healthy, happy, and successful!

YWCA's HIPPY

Home visits for children ages 3-5 are provided by YWCA’s HIPPY program, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters. A home visitor will teach you how to teach your child. HIPPY walks you through 30 weeks of activities that help your child develop math and reading skills and more. The no-cost visits help you as the parent, and then you can complete the fun lessons with your preschooler during the week. This program may be extra helpful if your child is not in a structured preschool program.

Play and Learn

Learning though play groups for children ages birth to 5.  You and your children are invited to join other Norwood families in fun play sessions.  Each 90-minute group includes activities you and your child do together to help them grow and learn.  Sessions take place twice a month and are free.

Live It Like You Mean It and Great Start!

Starting Kindergarten can be scary for kids and parents.   Live It Like You Mean It provides Great Start! kindergarten readiness workshops for parents and trusted caregivers. If your child faces a problem at school, do you know where you would turn? Are you ready to support your child’s classroom learning at home? In three sessions, you’ll learn about valuable tools and resources for school success. This program provides childcare and connects you with other families in the Norwood City School District.
